Niščij
Language: Russian (Русский)
I večernej i rannej poroju
Mnogo starcev, i vdov, i sirot
Pod okoškami chodit s sumoju,
Christa radi na pomošč' zovët.

Nadevaet li sumku nevolja,
Neochota li vzjat'sja za trud, —
Tjažela i gor'ka tvoja dolja,
Besprijutnyj, oborvannyj ljud!

Ne otkažut tebe v podajan'e,
Ne umrëš' ty bez krova zimoj, —
Žal' razumnoe Bož'e sozdan'e,
Čeloveka v grjazi i s sumoj!

No bednee i chuže est' niščij:
Ne pojdët on prosit' pod oknom,
Celyj vek, iz odeždy da pišči,
On rabotaet noč'ju i dnëm.

Spit v lačužke, na grjaznoj solome,
Bogatyr' v bezyschodnoj bede,
Krepče kamnja v nesnosnoj istome,
Krepče medi v krovavoj nužde.

Po smert' zërna on v zemlju brosaet.
Po smert' žnët, a nužda prodaët;
O nëm oblako slëzy ronjaet.
Pro tosku ego burja poët.
