Mir schwoll der Becher am Munde, Ich hatte nicht Durst zur Stunde, Ich ließ vorüber ihn gehn; Mir winkt' im grünen Laube Granate, Feig' und Traube, Doch hab' ich sie lassen stehn. Und als nun kam der Abend, Die Sonn' im Glanz begrabend, Da war mein Durst erwacht; Aber der Becher der Wonnen, Die Früchte waren zerronnen, Und dunkelte rings die Nacht.
