Vela el teu esclat d’argent i llostreja com ho solies fer damunt la prematura corona de morts de la jove esposa! Endebades esguardes, tan lluminosa i clara, en aquesta fronda; mai retrobaràs la joiosa parella sota la seva ombra! Un negre i hostil destí m’arrabassà la meva estimada! Cap sospir pot fer un encanteri per tornar-me–la ni tampoc cap llàgrima de nostàlgia! Oh, si un dia ella pogués tornar al lloc on he trobat el repòs, aleshores, prest, amb els teus raigs somorts il•lumina les flors de la tomba! Ella seuria plorant damunt el sepulcre i del penjoll de roses agafaria una petita flor i la premeria a la seva galta.
