An den Mond
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE ITA
Was schauest du so hell und klar
Durch diese Apfelbäume,
Wo [einst dein Freund]1 so selig war,
Und träumte süße Träume?
Verhülle deinen Silberglanz,
Und schimmre, wie du schimmerst,
Wenn du den frühen Todtenkranz
Der jungen Braut beflimmerst!

Du blickst umsonst so hell und klar
In diese Laube nieder;
Nie findest du das frohe Paar
In [ihrem]2 Schatten wieder!
Ein schwarzes, feindliches Geschick
[Entriß mir meine Schöne!]3
Kein Seufzer [zaubert]4 sie zurück,
Und keine Sehnsuchtsthräne!

[O]5 wandelt sie hinfort einmal
An meiner Ruhestelle,
Dann [mache flugs mit trübem]6 Stral
Des Grabes Blumen helle!
Sie setze weinend sich aufs Grab,
Wo Rosen niederhangen,
Und pflücke sich ein Blümchen ab,
Und [drück' es an die]7 Wangen.

Alla luna
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Perché così chiara e lucente,
attraverso i rami dei meli,
osservi il luogo dove fu felice il tuo amico,
e dolci sogni sognava?
Vela la tua luce d'argento,
e riluci piuttosto con lieve barlume,
come sei solita fare su una corona funebre
di giovane sposa!

Invano tu guardi, luminosa e splendente
fra queste fronde;
non più troverai la coppia felice
sotto la loro ombra.
Un nero, avverso destino
mi ha strappato il mio amore!
Né sospiri possono ridarmelo indietro,
e neppure lacrime di rimpianto!

O potesse un giorno tornare
nel luogo dove ho trovato riposo,
allora, subito, con la tua cupa luce
illumina i fiori sulla mia tomba.
Possa ella sedere in pianto in quel luogo,
dove le rose reclinano il capo,
e cogliere un piccolo fiore,
e al viso accostarlo.
