Menja tjaželyj davit svod,
Bol'šaja cep' na mne gremit.
Menja to vetrom opachnët,
To vsë vokrug menja gorit!
I, golovoj pripav k stene,
JA slyšu, kak bol'noj vo sne,
Kogda on spit, raskryv glaza,
Čto po zemle idët groza.

Nalëtnyj veter za oknom,
Listy krapivy ševelja,
Gustoe oblako s doždëm
Nesët na sonnye polja.
I bož'i zvëzdy ne chotjat
V moju temnicu brosit' vzgljad;
Odna, igraja po stene,
Sverkaet molnija v okne.

I mne otraden ėtot luč,
Kogda stremitel'nym ognëm
On vyryvaetsja iz tuč...
JA tak i ždu, čto božij grom
Moi okovy razob'ët,
Vse dveri nastež' raspachnët,
I oprokinet storožej
Tjur'my bezvychodnoj moej.

I ja pojdu, pojdu opjat',
Pojdu brodit' v gustych lesach,
Stepnoj dorogoju bluždat',
Tolkat'sja v šumnych gorodach...
Pojdu, sredi živych ljudej,
Vnov' polnyj žizni i strastej,
Zabyt' pozor moich cepej.
