Tu as jetté, las! tu m’as abatu:

Language: English  after the French (Français)
Upon me, o Lord, your heavy and harsh hand
You’ve thrown: alas, you’ve cast me down
So far that I have neither power nor strength
To resist the torments I endure.
Yet I know that you have a care for and duty to
Me, your slave, beaten down by your rod;
And in these evils which I am fighting
Only your great goodness reassures me.
Therefore, o good and humane god,
I place my cause and myself into your hands,
Relying on the support of your sweet indulgence.
But while I wait for your holy sweetness
To make an end to my sad ailment,
I beg you to give me patience.
