Ich möchte, dass dem Morgen der Name verborgen
bleibt, den ich der Nacht genannt habe,
und daß er sich im Morgenwind  geräuschlos
wie eine Träne auflöst.

Ich will, dass der Tag sie verkündet,
die Liebe, die ich vor dem Morgen  versteckt habe,
und - über mein offenes Herz gebeugt -
es entzündet wie ein Stück Weihrauch.

Ich wünschte, der Abend möge das Geheimnis
vergessen, das ich dem Tag erzählt habe,
und es zusammen mit meiner Liebe
in den Falten seines blassen Gewandes forttragen!
