Sogo, sagd um mange
Menn det stend Segn og Sol av,
rister eg her i Rad og Rim
um den heilage Olav.
Viking og vonde Blotmann
ut han or Villskap fria;
lørde deim lyde kvite Krist
og den milde Maria.
Soli sunnan kveiktest
linnt yvi Sjø og Strendar;
Blokkur og Blomar livna fram
under dei blaae Fennar.
Troll og Tussar tunge
sterk i Stein han støytte;
raatt og røti med Rot han reiv;
Hardhug i Blod han bløytte.
Gamle Gudar ramla;
reint han Rome sopa,
nøydde gamle Norig inn
i det unge Europa.
Folke sveik sin Drottin,
dreiv han or Landeviste;
drap han og søkte i femhundrad Aar
Raad og Hjelp ved hans Kiste.

Les sagas racontent l’histoire
Language: French (Français)  after the Norwegian (Nynorsk)
Les sagas racontent l’histoire
de nombreux hommes à la gloire légendaire,
J’écris ici en vers et en rimes
Celle de Saint Olav.
Les Viking et les païens malfaisants,
il les libéra de la sauvagerie ;
il leur apprit à écouter le Christ immaculé
et la douce Marie.
Le soleil du sud éclaira doucement,
la mer et les rivages ;
bourgeons et fleurs s’épanouirent
sous les névés bleus.
Trolls et génies obstinés,
il les repoussa avec force dans la pierre ;
Ce qui était brut et pourri, il l’arracha ;
la dureté des cœurs, il la noya dans le sang.
Les anciens dieux s’effondrèrent ;
il balaya complètement leurs sanctuaires,
il contraignit l’ancienne Norvège
à entrer dans la jeune Europe.
Le peuple trahit son roi,
Il le chassa de son royaume ;
Puis, pendant cinq cents ans,
Il chercha conseil et secours auprès de son cercueil.
