dem breiten Weg zu neben,
ein süßer Traum entrückte mich
dahin wo Engel schweben.

Ich wachte auf und seufzte schwer
und blickte traurig um mich her;
kam mit Gesang die Straß' entlang
ein junger Sänger gangen,

Schon schwand er hinter Busch und Baum,
als noch die Töne klangen,
ach waren sie's, die mir den Traum
süß in die Seele sangen?
