Des Waldes Wipfel rauschen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Des Waldes Wipfel rauschen
   Unheimlich hin und her,
Die Vöglein schweigen und lauschen,
   Singt keines, keines mehr.

Was wölbst du noch die Bogen,
   Du stolzes Abendroth?
Die Liebe hat gelogen,
Die Treu ist todt, ist todt!

Die kleinen Blumen senken
   Wehmüthiglich das Haupt,
Wenn sie des Tages denken,
   Der Alles mir geraubt.

Wie bleiche Blitze ziehen
   Mir Schmerzen durch den Sinn,
Ich möchte fliehen, fliehen,
   Und weiß doch nicht, wohin?
