S tekh por kak vechnyj sudija
Language: Russian (Русский)

S tekh por kak vechnyj sudija
Mne dal vseveden'e proroka,
V ochakh ljudej chitaju ja
Stranicy zloby i poroka.

Provozglashat' ja stal ljubvi
I pravdy chistye uchen'ja:
V menja vse blizhnije moi
Brosali besheno kamen'ja.

Posypal peplom ja glavu,
Iz gorodov bezhal ja nishchij,
I vot v pustyne ja zhivu,
Kak pticy, darom bozh'ej pishchi;

Zavet predvechnogo khranja,
Mne tvar' pokorna tam zemnaja;
I zvjozdy slushajut menja,
Luchami radostno igraja.

Kogda zhe cherez shumnyj grad
Ja probirajus' toroplivo,
To starcy detjam govorjat
S ulybkoju samoljubivoj:

«Smotrite: vot primer dlja vas!
On gord byl, ne uzhilsja s nami.
Glupec, khotel uverit' nas,
Chto Bog glasit jego ustami!

Smotrite zh, deti, na nego:
Kak on ugrjum i khud i bleden!
Smotrite, kak on nag i beden,
Kak prezirajut vse jego!»
