 Glänzt Kaschemirs See auch sonnig und rein
 Mit seiner Plataneninseln Schein,
 Und rinnen dort Ströme auf goldnem Sand,
 Doch ach! nur den Seligen ist's bekannt:
 Ein Tropfen des Himmels ist schöner denn alle!
 Geh, schwing dich im Fluge von Stern zu Stern,
 Von Welt zu leuchtender Welt, so fern
 Als der Himmel wölbt seine Sonnenhalle,
 Nimm alle die Wonnen von allen den Sphären
 Und laß durch unendliche Zeiten sie währen:

Que feliços passegen els benaurats esperits
en la flaire de les flors que mai es marceixen!
Tot i que siguin meus els jardins de la terra i el mar
i jo mateixa culli flors entre les estrelles:
una petita flor del cel és més formosa que totes les altres!
El llac de Catxemira resplendeix també, assolellat i pur,
amb l’esclat de les illes de plàtans,
i allà hi corren els rius damunt la sorra daurada,
però ai! Només els benaurats ho coneixen:
una gota del cel és més formosa que totes les altres!
Ves, vola amb les teves ales d’una estrella a l’altre,
d’un món a un altre més lluminós, tan lluny
com el cel estén la volta de l’estança del sol,
pren tots els delits de totes les esferes
i fes que durin un temps infinit:
una hora del cel és més formosa que totes les altres!
