Wenn die matte Sommerschwüle Lässig stritt mit frischer Kühle, Und die blanken Blätter [thauten]3, Und die Saaten dunkler blauten. Borbolla, pluja, borbolla cap avall, desperta de nou els somnis que vaig tenir a la meva infància quan la mullena escumejava a la sorra! Quan la somorta xafogor de l’estiu lluitava indolent amb la frescor, i la rosada degotava de les fulles lluents, i d’un blau més fosc lluïen els sembrats. Quin goig d’estar sota el ruixat amb els peus nus, de fregar l’herba i agafar l’escuma amb les mans. O, a les galtes calentes, rebre les fredes gotes, i, amb les tot just desvetllades flaires, airejar el pit infantívol. Com els calzes que allà regalimaven, alenant, la meva ànima restava oberta, com les flors èbries de fragàncies, immersa en la rosada celestial. Amb un tremolor cada gota refrescava profundament fins al cor bategant, i el sagrat teixit de la creació, penetrava fins la vida latent. Borbolla, pluja, borbolla cap avall, desperta les meves velles cançons, les que cantàvem a la porta quan a fora tamborinava la pluja! Voldria escoltar de nou llur dolç, rellent remoreig, arrosar la meva ànima amb la innocent basarda de la infància.
