Nun steh ich über Grat und Kluft
In abendlichen Rosen
Und höre durch die klare Luft
Das Leben tief vertosen.

Ein Adler rauscht ins Tal hinab,
Wo meine Toten schlafen,
Was ich geliebt dort unten hab,
Weiß ich in sicherm Hafen.

Und bin nun über Leid und Zeit
Und meinen Sternen näher
Und schaue in die Ewigkeit,
Ein stillgemuter Späher.

Durch eine selige Bläue schwimmt
Ein Nachen da herüber,
Naht, neigt den schwanken Bord und nimmt
Sanft schaukelnd mich hinüber.

Ara estic damunt la carena i l’avenc
en les roses vesprals
i sento a través de l’aire clar
el braol de la vida al fons.

Una àguila davalla brunzent a la vall
on dormen els meus morts,
tot el que allà baix he estimat
sé que resta en un port segur.

I ara estic per damunt del dolor i el temps
i més a prop de les meves estrelles
i esguardo vers l’eternitat,
un aguait amb esperit tranquil.

A través d’una benaurada blavor sura
una barca al meu envers,
s’atansa, inclina el seu bord oscil·lant
i se m’emporta balancejant a l’altre costat.
