Sturm mit seinen Donnerschlägen
Kann mir nicht wie du
So das tiefste Herz bewegen,
Tiefe Meeresruh!

Du allein nur konntest lehren
Uns den schönen Wahn
Seliger Musik der Sphären,
Stiller Ozean!

Nächtlich Meer, nun ist dein Schweigen
So tief ungestört,
Daß die Seele wohl ihr eigen
Träumen klingen hört;

Daß im Schutz geschloss'nen Mundes,
Doch mein Herz erschrickt,
Das Geheimnis heil'gen Bundes
Fester an sich drückt.

no pot commoure 
el meu cor com ho fas tu,
profunda mar en calma!

Solament tu ens pots ensenyar
la bella il·lusió
de la prodigiosa música celestial,
oceà en calma!

Mar nocturnal, el teu silenci és ara
tan profundament plàcid,
que l’ànima pot sentir ben bé
el ressò dels seus somnis;

que resguardat per la boca tancada,
tot i així, el meu cor s’esparvera,
i el secret d’aquest sagrat lligam
el prem més fort contra ell.
