Baríton solo: Ara davalla la daurada resplendor del capvespre damunt el país de roses de Síria, com un gloriós besllum el sol està suspès damunt el Líban sagrat. En la majestat hivernal s’eleva el seu cap, lluentat per neus eternes, mentre que l’estiu dorm als seus peus coronat de planters de flors. Qui des de l’alçària pogués contemplar a baix, totes les prades encisadores, que formós li semblaria el món, la vida bellugadissa, il•luminada al voltant per la sumptuositat dels jardins, la resplendor de les onades, a llurs ribatges els fruits daurats encara més bells a la llum del sol, i llavors la cridòria de milers de veus, l’antic flabiol de pastor, el brunzir de les abelles a la terra promesa, que s’eixamenen damunt els camps florits, i tu, Jordà, amb les teves ribes ufanoses i els teus boscos plens de rossinyols!
