Gestern abend in der stillen Ruh',
Sah ich im Wald einer Amsel zu;
Als ich da so saß,
Meiner ganz vergaß:
Kommt mein Schatz und schleichet sich um mich
Und küsset mich.

So viel Laub als an der Linden ist
Und so viel tausendmal hat mich mein Schatz geküßt;
Denn ich muß gesteh'n,
Es hat's niemand geseh'n,
Und die Amsel soll mein Zeuge sein:
Wir war'n allein.

Ahir al vespre en la pau silenciosa,
estava mirant una merla al bosc;
mentre seia allà
absort en mi mateix:
vingué el meu tresor, s’esquitllà al meu costat
i em besà.

Tal com fulles hi ha al til·ler, l’estimada
em besà mil vegades més;
haig de confessar però
que ningú ens veié
i la merla és el meu testimoni:
érem tots dos sols.
