Du gabst beim Wandern mir treu Geleite, ich kenn den Laut nun auf jeder Saite; ich kenn den Laut auf der Saite dein, du liegst im Sinn mir Tagaus, Tagein! Ich weiss ja nicht, wie es ist gekommen, jed' Wort und jed' Lied von dir vernommen, ja jeder Laut, den ich hört von dir, in's Herze hat sich geschrieben mir. O könnt' gestehn ich ihr mein Empfinden, dass hier ist keine ihr gleich zu finden! Nein, keine andre ich lieb' wie dich und nie dich könnte vergessen ich.
