View text without footnotesNote: This is Deinhardstein's text as written in Schubert's manuscript. There are a few minor changes made by a third party, which have been adopted by Breitkopf & Härtel (1892) in the Alte Gesamtausgabe, Serie XVII. The first print of Schubert's cantata appeared 1822 in connection with the first performance. It features a different first stanza.
