Sie sagen, du hätt'st mich betrogen, Sie wüßten es ganz genau, Hätt'st Liebe mir gelogen, Nähmst niemals mich zur Frau. Wie sie mich fragen und quälen Und mir von dir erzählen, -- Ich glaub' es nicht. Ich sollte mich nicht betrüben, Wärst werth kein Herzeleid, Im andern Kirchspiel drüben Hätt'st du eine andere Maid. Der hätt'st du dich versprochen Und mir die Treu gebrochen, -- Ich glaub' es nicht. Du gingest mit ihr zur Linde, Du schlichest in ihr Haus, Brächt'st ihr zum Angebinde Den schönsten Blumenstrauß, Und daß du bei ihr wachtest Und mich mit ihr verlachtest, -- Ich glaub' es nicht. Was sie mir geben zu hören, Nicht wahr? ist Trug und Schein, Ich wollte wohl auf dich schwören, Du kannst nicht untreu sein.
