Já tebe zbožňuji, jak báň, s níž noc k nám splývá,
ó, vázo žalosti, ó, velká mlčenlivá,
a miluji tím víc, co, krásko, unikáš,
a co se, ozdobo ty mojich nocí, zdáš
vždy s větším posměchem zas množit míle dálné,
jež dělí ruce mé a modrosti ty valné.

Já k útoku jdu vpřed a šplhám nahoru,
jak za mrtvolou když jdou červi ve sboru,
a rád mám, ukrutné tě zvíře, nesmířlivé!
až k chladu, ve kterém jsi krašší mně, než dříve!
