Wie sollt ich heiter bleiben
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): CAT ENG FRE ITA
Wie sollt ich heiter bleiben,
Entfernt von Tag und Licht?
Nun aber will ich schreiben,
Unt trinken mag ich nicht.

Wenn sie mich an sich lockte,
War Rede nicht im Brauch,
Und wie die Zunge stockte
So stockt die Feder auch.

Nur zu! Geliebter Schenke,
Den Becher fülle still!
Ich sage nur: Gedenke!
Schon weiß man, was ich will.

Comment puis‑je rester serein
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Comment puis-je rester serein,
Loin du jour et de la nuit ?
Mais maintenant je veux écrire,
Et je ne peux pas boire.

Quand elle m'attirait près d'elle,
Les mots n'étaient pas utiles,
Et comme ma langue s'arrêtait,
Ma plume s'arrêtait aussi.

Allons-y ! Cher aubergiste,
Remplis silencieusement mon verre !
Je dis seulement : souviens-toi !
Déjà on sait ce que je veux.
