jag kan ej min ledsnad beskriva.

Nu står där blott åter ett svidande sår --
där riva de alla och sarga;

nun möcht' ich zur Ruhe bald ziehen.
Ich seh' keine Sterne; am nächtlichen Grund
nur finstre Wolken fliehen.

Ich hatte ein Herz, das gab und nur gab,
jetzt hat es wohl alles gegeben.
Lieb' Todtengräber, oh, grab' mir ein Grab;
mein Sinn tut vor Sorgen erbeben.

Nun bleibt mir zurück nur die Wunde so arg,
dran reissen sie alle, die Bösen.
Ach, Todtengräber, bereit mir den Sarg,
wohl wirds mich vom Leide erlösen.

Dann bringt mir am Ende doch Frieden das Grab,
draus spriessen die Blümlein, wie Flügel.
