Mit zwei schlanken Flötenbläserinnen.
Aus den Kelchen schütten wir die Neigen.
Die gesprächesmüden Lippen schweigen.
Um die welken Kränze zieht ein Singen...
Still, des Todes Schlummerflöten klingen.

Arriva un jeune homme, je m'en souviens,
Accompagné de deux sveltes joueuses de flûte.
Nous renversons le fond des gobelets,
Les lèvres fatiguées de parler se taisent.
Autour des couronnes fanées s'élève un chant ...
Dans le silence chante la flûte somnolente de la mort.
