Freundlich kommst du angezogen, Freundlich schwebst du himmelwärts, Glitzernd durch des Äthers Wogen, Strahlst du Hoffnung in das Herz. Wie in schäumenden Pokalen Traubenpurpur muthig schwellt, So durchleuchten deine Strahlen Die erwachte Frühlingswelt. Wie im herrlichen Geschiebe Sich des Goldes Pracht verschließt, So erglänz'st du, Stern der Liebe, Der den Morgen still begrüßt. Und es treibt dich nach den Sternen Hell im Dunkel zu erglüh'n. Über Berge, über Fernen Möcht' ich einmal mit dir ziehn. Faß't mich, faß't mich heil'ge Strahlen, Schlingt um mich das goldne Band, Daß ich aus den Erdenqualen Fliehe in ein glücklich Land. Doch ich kann dich nicht erfassen, Nicht erreichen, stehst so fern! - Kann ich von der Sehnsucht lassen? Darf ich's, heil'ger Himmelsstern?

Ster van liefde, vroeg gemelde! Gloeiend als de hemelbruid Stijg je door de lichte velden, Kondend dat de dag ontsluit. Vriend'lijk kom je opgestegen, Vriend'lijk zweef je op naar 't zwerk, Flonk'rend door de etherwegen Maakt jouw straal ons hart weer sterk. Zoals in de wijnbokalen 't Druivenpurper krachtig zwelt, Zo doorschijnt jouw helder stralen Het ontwaakte bos en veld. Wie van rots ooit scherven kliefde, Vindt soms goud daar, onvermoed, Zo ook glans jij, ster van liefde, Die de morgen stil begroet. En iets drijft je om1 na de sterren Fel in 't donker nog te staan. Over bergen, eindloos verre, Zou ik graag met jou meegaan. Neem mij, neem mij, heil'ge stralen, Sla om mij je gouden band, Dat ik, weg van aardse kwalen, Vlieg naar een gelukkig land! Maar ik kan je niet bereiken, Niet beroeren: 't is te ver! Kan het hunk'ren van mij wijken? Mag dat, heil'ge hemelster?
