Mitt hjarta har vore i livsens strid

Our translations:  FRE
Mitt hjarta [har vore i livsens]1 strid,
og mangt eit sår hev det [fengi]2;
det låg sjukt og sårt i so mang ei rid,
men endå [har det]3 til denne tid
frå leiken med livet [gjengi]4.

Men ær på ær etter sår på sår
der er på kvar [einaste]5 sida,
og upp dei brjota kvar evig vår,
når lauvet spretter og isen går
og gauken gjeler i lida.

Men blomar bløma i desse ær,
og blømande blom er tåret.
Det soleis også med jordi er:
når regn og dogg ho frå himlen fær,
so veksa blomar i såret.

Blessures

Mon cœur a connu les combats de la vie
et fut atteint de maintes blessures ;
abattu, malade et blessé bien des fois,
mais finalement , jusqu'à présent,
il s'est sorti en vie du jeu.

Mais année après année, toutes ces blessures
infligées à chaque endroit,
s'ouvrent à chaque immortel printemps,
quand apparaissent les feuilles et que disparaît la glace
et que le coucou appelle dans le bocage.

Mais en ces années les fleurs s'épanouissent
et les fleurs épanouies sont arrosées de larmes.
Il en va ainsi avec la terre :
après la pluie et la rosée du ciel,
les fleurs éclosent dans sa blessure.
