This poem, subtitled "Leipzig 24. April 1813 auf dem Schneckenberge", was first printed in Zwölf freie deutsche Gedichte von Theodor Körner Nebst einem Anhang. 1813, pages 31-33, edited by an anonymous friend (Leipzig, im November 1813), and differs in some ways from the version published 1814 in "Leyer und Schwerdt" by the poet's father.
