 Die Peri sah das Mal der Wunde,
 Und nun vertobt des Kampfes Wut,
 Kam sie im Strahl des Morgenrots
 Und nahm das letzte Tröpflein Blut,
 Das aus dem Heldenherzen drang,
 Eh' sich der freie Geist entschwang.

Die Peri, Vokalquartett und Chor
 Sei dies mein Geschenk,
 Willkommen dorten
 An Edens Pforten!
 Denn heilig ist das Blut,
 Für die Freiheit verspritzt vom Heldenmut,
 Und würde nicht trüben die klarste Flut,
 Die durch die Haine der Sel'gen fließt!
 O, gibt es ein Opfer der Erdenwelt,
 Ein Geschenk, das teuer der Himmel hält,
 'S ist das Blut, das der Freiheit sterbender Sohn

 Scorse la Peri la macchia della ferita,
 e, cessato l'infuriare della battaglia,
 giunse con il primo raggio dell'aurora,
 e colse l'ultima goccia di sangue
 che era sgorgata dal cuore dell'eroe,
 prima che l'anima lo abbandonasse.

La Peri, Quartetto vocale e Coro
 Che questo mio dono
 sia bene accolto
 presso le porte dell'Eden!
 Ché cosa sacra è il sangue
 versato per la libertà da un eroe coraggioso,
 e non intorbiderebbe le limpidissime acque,
 che attraversano i boschi dei beati!
 Oh, se esiste un sacrificio del mondo terreno,
 che, come un dono, è caro al cielo,
 questo è il sangue che un figlio morente per la libertà
 offre come ultima libagione!
