Die Waise
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
Der Frühling kehret wieder,
Und alles freuet sich,
Ich blicke traurig nieder,
Er kam ja nicht für mich.

Was soll mir armen Kinde
Des Frühlings Pracht und Glanz?
Denn wenn ich Blumen winde,
Ist es zum Totenkranz.

Ach! keine Hand geleitet
Mich heim ins Vaterhaus,
Und keine Mutter breitet
Die Arme nach mir aus.

Ich sah sie beide scheiden,
Mit ihnen schied mein Glück.
Bei mir blieb nur das Leiden
In dieser Welt zurück.

O Himmel, gib mir wieder,
Was deine Liebe gab --
Blick ich zur Erde nieder,
So seh ich nur ihr Grab.

De wees
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
De lente komt weer, fleurig,
En alles straalt nu blij,
Maar ik kijk triest en treurig,
Want niet voor mij kwam zij.

Wat moet ik, arm, jong weeskind,
Met lentes pracht en glans?
Wanneer ik bloemen vastbind,
Is 't voor een dodenkrans.

Geen hand die mij kan leiden
Terug naar 't vaderhuis,
Geen moeder om te breiden
Haar armen naar mij uit.

Ik zag hen sterven beiden,
Met hen stierf mijn geluk.
Bij mij bleef slechts het lijden,
Mijn levensdroom is stuk.

O hemel, die mij spaarde,
Geef terug wat  ooit jij gaf;
Sla ik mijn blik ter aarde,
Dan zie ik slechts hun graf.
