Schmerzen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): CAT ENG FRE ITA NOR NYN RUS
Sonne, weinest jeden Abend
Dir die schönen Augen rot,
Wenn im Meeresspiegel badend
Dich erreicht der frühe Tod;

Doch erstehst in alter Pracht,
Glorie der düstren Welt,
Du am Morgen neu erwacht,
Wie ein stolzer Siegesheld!

Ach, wie sollte ich da klagen,
Wie, mein Herz, so schwer dich sehn,
Muß die Sonne selbst verzagen,
Muß die Sonne untergehn?

Und gebieret Tod nur Leben,
Geben Schmerzen Wonne nur:
O wie dank ich, daß gegeben
Solche Schmerzen mir Natur!

Dolori
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Piange il sole ad ogni sera
E s'asconde in mezzo al mar,
Perchè il vol di sua carriera
Nella notte ha da tornar:

Poi sorride ad ogni albore
Ciconfuso di splendore,
E risale alto e fedel
L'ampie zone del suo ciel.

Io così men vo' piangendo,
Nella notte del mio duol,
Io così men vo' ridendo
Come piange e ride il sol.

Se codensto è il Fato santo,
Se il sorriso vien dal pianto,
Benedici o mesto cuor
Colla gioia anche il dolor.
