I flee the city’s houses, streets and halls where listening to your voice was such a pleasure - where you persuaded me, not without pressure, to give you what I valued most of all. Tournaments, masques and games seem such a bore; without your presence, nothing can attract me. So, trying to shake off the pain that racks me, and give my mind new objects to explore, away from these love-laden neighbourhoods, I take long walks to dense and lonely woods. But now I see that, wander as I may, my surest chance to break your amorous spell would be to move outside my very self - or for you to travel far and stay away.
