Ein Wetterfähnlein ist mein Sinn, Er schwankt und wankt im Lieben, Er dreht sich her und dreht sich hin, Von jedem Wind getrieben. Ich weiß nicht, ist's mit mir allein, Mag's andern auch so gehen? An jedem Fenster groß und klein Muß ich was Holdes sehen. Heut klopf' ich bei der Blonden an Und morgen bei der Braunen, Und übermorgen muß ich dann Der Schwarzen Reiz bestaunen. Nur kann ich nimmer allzulang Bei einer mich verweilen; Macht mich ein dunkles Auge krank, Ein blaues muß mich heilen. Und leicht gewogen hier am Ort Sind mir die ros'gen Schönen, Denn jede hört ein Liebeswort Zur Zither gern ertönen, Und jede schwärmt auf ihre Art Beim sanften Glanz der Sterne, Und machst du's nur ein wenig zart, So küßt auch jede gerne. Mon cœur est comme une girouette, Il vacille et chancelle en amour, Il se tourne par-ci, par-là, Poussé par tous les vents. Je ne sais pas si je suis le seul dans ce cas, Les autres sont-ils aussi ainsi ? À chaque fenêtre, grande ou petite, Je dois voir quelque chose de charmant. Aujourd’hui, je frappe à la porte de la blonde, Et demain, à celle de la brune, Et après-demain, je devrai alors M’émerveiller devant le charme de la noire. Mais je ne peux jamais m’attarder longtemps Près d’une seule ; Si un œil sombre me rend malade, Un œil bleu doit me guérir. Et ici, sur place, Les belles aux joues roses me sont chères, Car chacune aime entendre résonner Un mot d’amour au son de la cithare, Et chacune s’émerveille à sa manière Devant la douce lueur des étoiles, Et si tu te montres un peu tendre, Chacune t’embrassera volontiers.
