    Veilchenau'
  Glänzt der Wonnigen

    Without faltering
  I sing a joyful
    Song of courtly love,
  For the pure one
  Whom I mean
Gives to me a delightful thank-you.

  Ah! I am profoundly
    Wounded by love!
  All too lovingly
    Do her lips thank me;
  Smiles with such regard,
  Tempts so kissingly
That I tremble in the depths of my heart!

  Like the sunny
    Meadow of violets
  Glows the blue of the eyes
  Of the delightful one;
    Fresh and rounded
  Is her dear mouth,
Like the budding rose in the dew.

  The bright red of
    Her dear cheeks
  Is possessed by no angel,
    So [help] me God!
  Oh! could I but sit
  Continually
Beside the praiseworthy one until I die.
