Wenn eine Blume still verblüht, Die dich den Sommer lang gefreut, Was siehst du sie so traurig an? - Sie hat zu blühen nicht bereut. Sie ließ ins Herz den Tag sich scheinen, Und zwang die Nacht sie auch zu weinen, Am Morgen war's in Duft verstreut. Und ob das Haupt ihr sinkt und bleicht, Und all ihr Glanz nun bald verweht; Es ist ja Freude, die sie bricht, Daß voll erblüht sie scheiden geht. Als es die Nachtigall gesungen, Da ist ihr schönstes Lied erklungen; - O selig, selig, wer's versteht!
