Sechs Lieder für 1 Singstimme mit Pianoforte , opus 4

by Robert Pflughaupt (1833 - 1871)

1. Du bist wie eine Blume  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
  Du bist wie eine Blume
[So hold und schön und rein;]1
Ich [schau']2 dich an, und Wehmut
Schleicht mir ins Herz hinein.

  Mir ist, als [ob ich]3 die Hände
Aufs Haupt [dir]4 legen sollt',
[Betend]5, daß [Gott dich]6 erhalte
[So rein und schön und hold]7.

3. Wiegenlied  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Alles still in süßer Ruh,
Drum, mein Kind, so schlaf auch du!
Draußen säuselt nur der Wind:
Su, susu! schlaf ein, mein Kind!

[Schließ du]1 deine Äugelein,
Laß sie wie zwei Knospen sein!
Morgen, wenn die Sonn' erglüht,
Sind sie wie die Blum' erblüht.

Und die Blümlein schau' ich an,
Und die Äuglein küss' ich dann,
Und der Mutter Herz vergißt,
Daß es draußen Frühling ist.

Confirmed with Kinderlieder von Hoffmann von Fallersleben. Erste vollständige Ausgabe besorgt durch Dr. Lionel von Donop, Zweite Auflage, Berlin, G. Grote'sche Verlagsbuchhandlung, 1878, pages 26-27.

Note: in many older editions, the spelling of the word "Äugelein" becomes "Aeugelein", but as can be seen in how "über" becomes "Ueber" when capitalized, this is due to the printing process and not to rules of orthography, so we use "Äugelein".

See also this text that makes use of the second and third stanzas.

1 Kücken: "Schließe"

4. Träumen

Language: German (Deutsch)

5. Dein Auge  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Ein Himmelreich dein Auge ist,
ein Engel jeder Blick;
wem liebend er begegnet ist,
dem lächelt das Geschick.
O Himmel, nimm mich auf zu dir,
und laß mich selig sein,
o Engel, ziehe segnend mir
ins offen Herz hinein!

6. Es treibt dich fort von Ort zu Ort  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
  Es treibt [dich]1 fort von Ort zu Ort,
Du weißt nicht mal warum;
Im Winde klingt ein sanftes Wort,
Schaust dich verwundert um.

  Die Liebe, die dahinten blieb,
Sie ruft dich sanft zurück:
"O komm zurück, ich hab dich lieb,
Du bist mein einz'ges Glück!"

  Doch weiter, weiter, sonder Rast,
Du darfst nicht stille stehn;
Was du so sehr geliebet hast,
Sollst du nicht wiedersehn.
