Dobiega podróż mojego żywota
Wśród burzliwego morza, w kruchej łodzi,
W port wspólny, kędy zdać sprawę się godzi
Ze zła i dobra, które duszą miota.

Wiem, że z fantazji zapalna ochota,
Co samowładcę i bóstwo mi rodzi
Z sztuki, do błędu jedynie przywodzi
I że nieszczęściem jest własna tęsknota.

Myśl o miłości, próżna i wesoła,
Czem będzie, gdy śmierć się podwójna zbliża?
Ta pewna, tamta snadź nieunikniona.

Pędzel ni dłuto nie ucisza zgoła
Duszy, co zwraca się jeno do krzyża,
Gdzie Miłość boska otwiera ramiona.
