Drei Lieder nach Worten von Hermann Hesse

Song Cycle by Anton Schoendlinger (1919 - 1983)

1. Morgen
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Da ich verschlafen lag
An Waldes grünem Rand,
Geschah ein leiser Schrei im Land,
Und da ich mir die Augen rieb,
War es schon heller Tag.

Vergangen ist mein Traum,
Mein schwerer Traum! Die Welt
Ist ringsum wohlbestellt
Und hat für mich und viele
Verlaufene Wanderer Raum.

O Tag, du junger Tag!
Dich darf ich noch durchmessen,
In dir die Zeit vergessen
Um mich und alles Schwere,
Das mir noch kommen mag.

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Morgen", subtitle: "(1909)", written 1909

2. Die Birke
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Eines Dichters Traumgerank
Mag sich feiner nicht verzweigen,
Leichter nicht dem Winde neigen,
Edler nicht ins Blaue steigen.

Zärtlich, jung und überschlank
Lässest du die lichten, langen
Zweige mit verhaltnem Bangen
Jedem Hauche regbar hangen.

Also wiegend leis und schwank
Willst du mir mit deinen feinen
Schauern einer zärtlich reinen
Jugendliebe Gleichnis scheinen.

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Die Birke", written 1900, appears in Neue deutsche Lyriker III , in Von Wanderungen, first published 1919

3. Einsame Nacht
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Die ihr meine Brüder seid,
Arme Menschen nah und ferne,
Die ihr im Bezirk der Sterne
Tröstung träumet eurem Leid,
Die ihr wortelos gefaltet
In die blaß gestirnte Nacht
Schmale Dulderhände haltet,
Die ihr leidet, die ihr wacht,
Arme, irrende Gemeinde,
Schiffer ohne Stern und Glück --
Fremde, dennoch mir Vereinte,
Gebt mir meinen Gruß zurück.

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Einsame Nacht", written 1901
