Und ob ich zitternd dir entfliehe

Mein eigen Blut hat sich verschworen,

Car, comme une fièvre secrète et insidieuse,
Tu me ronges et me tues.

Chaque jour, à chaque heure
Ton image chérie se faufile,
Et si, tremblante, je t'échappe,
Tu me rattrapes avec plaisir et tapage.

Mon propre sang a conspiré
S'alliant avec toi contre moi --
Il gronde et fulmine dans mes veines :
« Je t'aime ... je t'aime. »

In Weh durchweint, in Noth durchwacht,
Um dich begrüßt mit heißem Schlag
Mein Herz den grauen Wintertag --
Ach, wirst du kommen, Liebster mein,
Die Sonne dieses Tags zu sein?

Das Leben rinnt uns durch die Hand,
Ist jeder Tag ein Körnlein Sand,
Das häuft sich an und lastet schwer,
Darunter blüht kein Hoffen mehr --
O komm, so lang der Sonnenschein
Uns noch umleuchtet, Liebster mein!

Als über den Flieder das Mondlicht rann,
Da steckt' er mir heimlich ein Ringlein an,
Und küßte den Ring und die Hand dazu
Und lauschte selig dem ersten "Du".

Das Mondenlicht sah in den Ring hinein,
Das gab einen fröhlichen, hellen Schein,
Der Fliederbaum neigte die Blüten stumm,
Die Gräser raunten: "Das Glück geht um!"

3. Alliance

Quand la lune courait au dessus du lilas
Il me passa en cachette un petit anneau
Et embrassa l'anneau et aussi la main
Et épia avec bonheur le premier "Tu ".

Le clair de lune, se reflétant dans l'anneau
Produisait un éclat clair et joyeux,
Le lilas inclinait silencieusement ses fleurs,
Les herbes murmuraient : « Il y a du bonheur par ici ! ».

Dem ich meine junge Stirne

6. Jours troubles
