Über Wald und grünen Wiesen;

An dem Bache zirpt die Grille,
Und es regt sich in dem Wasser,
Und der Wandrer hört ein Plätschern,
Und ein Athmen in der Stille.

2. Zomeravond

Deemst’rend ligt de zomeravond
Over bos en groene weiden;
’n Gouden maan, aan blauwe hemel,
Straalt naar onder, geurig lavend.

Bij het beekje sjirpt de krekel,
En er roert iets in het water,
En de wand’laar hoort geklater,
En een aad’men, naar het leek wel.
 
Ginds bij ‘t beekje, buiten aanzicht,
Baadt een elf, alleen, bevallig;
Hals en armen, wit, lieftallig,
Scheem’ren in het milde maanlicht.
