Wer öffnet leise [Schloß und Thür]1?
Wer schleicht in's haus herein?

Er tritt hinein! sie hört ihn nicht,

Sie ist nicht taub dem milden Wort,

Sie thut die Arme weit ihm auf,
Und er drückt sich hinein,
Da hörte seines Herzens Schlag
Das taube Mütterlein.

So selig, so verklärt -
Ich wette, daß taub Mütterlein
