Und doch ist's Wahnsinn, zu hoffen Sie!
    Und um sie schweben, 
    Gibt Muth und Leben,
    Zu weichen nie! --
Und denn, wie kann ich vergessen Sie,

Al is het waanzin, te hopen op haar!
En rond haar te zweven
Geeft moed en leven: ga nooit vandaar!
En dan, hoe kan ik vergeten haar,
