Ik kon nog niets pakken met handjes zacht, En was toch gebonden, als was ik verdacht; Ik had wel voetjes, maar leek toch nog lam, Tot moeder zacht aan haar borst mij nam. Dan lachte ik zuigend naar haar omhoog, Zij zong mij van rozen, een engel die vloog, Zij zong en zij wiegde mij zingend tot rust En dan werden teder mijn ogen gekust.
