Ich möchte lassen diese glanzumspielte Welt, 
In der mich Lust und Wehe rings umsponnen hält,
Und möchte fortziehn, fort von den Menschen weit
In eine wilde, schöne Waldeinsamkeit.
Dort würde ich dem Laubgeflüster lauschen 
Und horchen auf des hellen Bächleins Rauschen
Und auf der Vögel Sang,
Sehen der Sonne Untergang --
Und endlich selber mit ihr untergehen.

Là, j'écouterais le chuchotement des feuilles,
Et je prêterais l'oreille au murmure du petit ruisseau clair
Et au chant des oiseaux,
Je regarderais le soleil se coucher --
