Das tönt so lieblich, mild und leise,
Das spricht so zage, zart und rein,
Leicht lullt die nachgeklung'ne Weise
In wonneschweren Traum mich ein.

La terre touche à peine mon pied,
J'entends résonner à mon oreille
Comme l'au-revoir de ma bien-aimée.

C'est un son si tendre, doux et léger,
Ce sont des mots si hésitants, délicats et purs,
L'écho d'une  berceuse légère qui pénètre en moi
Comme dans un rêve plein de félicité.


Mes yeux brillants -- tandis que me comble
La plus douce des mélodies --
Voient passer, sans drapés ni voiles
Ma bien-aimée souriante.
