Das Rosenstöcklein steht in Flor;
o Gärtnerin, wie blüht's empor!
Sie hat ihr Pförtlein zugemacht.
              Tiefe Nacht.

Die schönste Rose in der Hand;
ein Knösplein saß am Blütenrand.
Es lugt sie an im Traum und lacht:
              Süße Nacht.

Es lugt nach ihren Lippen hin;
wie's schwillt, wie's schwillt, o Gärtnerin!
Genieße doch die Blütenpracht!
              Gute Nacht!

Le petit rosier est en fleurs ;
ô jardinière comme il fleurit !
Elle a fermé son portillon.
        profonde.

La plus belle fleur à la main ;
un petit bouton au bord de la fleur.
Il la guette en rêve et rit :
        Douce nuit.

Il guette ses lèvres ;
combien gonflées, combien, gonflées, ô jardinière !
Savoure donc l'éclat de la fleur !
        Bonne nuit !
