Jag gråter blodiga tårar,
de falla för synder och sorg,
för allt som sårat, som sårar
mitt hjärtas sargade borg.

På ingen jag skyller mitt öde;
jag följer min lefnads ström
och rusar med eget flöde
från boja, stängsel och töm.

Jag utan beräkning vänder
till baka till jordens famn
och skrattar vid afgudabränder
åt ära, rykte och namn.
