Fortuna ist ihr Name,

Und wendet sie sich weiter, 
ich kümmre mich nicht drum,
da draußen ohne Reiter,
da geht die Welt so dumm.

Statt Pulverblitz und Knattern
aus jedem wüsten Haus
Gevattern sehn und schnattern
alle Lust zum Land hinaus.

Fortuna weint vor Ärger, 
es rinnet Perl' auf Perl';
»Wo ist der Schreckenberger?
Das war ein andrer Kerl!«

Sie tut den Arm mir reichen,
Fama bläst das Geleit,
so zu dem Tempel steigen
wir der Unsterblichkeit.

Le soudard

Au bonheur de ma dulcinée,
une girouette est sa bannière,
Fortuna est son nom,
le camp est son quartier général !

Qu’elle aille voir ailleurs,
je ne vais pas m’en faire pour autant,
le monde sans reîtres
va lui paraître bien fade.

Au lieu de coups de feu et de détonations
partis des maisons désertées,
voir des petits vieux et bavasser,
c’est tout le plaisir qu’on a à la campagne.

Fortuna en pleure de dépit
emperlée de larmes.
“Où est donc mon soudard ?
C’était quand même un autre gaillard !”

Elle me tend les bras,
le souffle de la gloire nous accompagne,
ainsi nous accédons
au temple de l’immortalité.
