Wenn Fortuna spröde tut,
laß' ich sie in Ruh',
singe recht und trinke gut,
und Fortuna kriegt auch Mut,
setzt sich mit dazu.

Doch ich geb' mir keine Müh':
»He, noch eine her!«
kehr' den Rücken gegen sie,
laß' hoch leben die und die
das verdrießt sie sehr.

Und bald rückt sie sacht zu
mir: »Hast du deren mehr?«
»Wie Sie seh'n, drei Kannen schier,
und das lauter Klebebier!
's wird mir gar nicht schwer.«

Drauf sie zu mir lächelt fein:
»Bist ein ganzer Kerl!«
ruft den Kellner, schreit nach Wein,
trinkt mir zu und schenkt mir ein,
echte Blum' und Perl'.

Sie bezahlet Wein und Bier,
und ich, wieder gut,
führe sie am Arm mit mir
aus dem Haus wie'n Kavalier,
alles zieht den Hut.

L’Aventurier

Quand la Fortuna fait sa mijaurée,
je lui fiche la paix,
je chante à tue-tête et bois un bon coup,
alors la Fortuna reprend du poil de la bête,
et viens s’asseoir avec moi.

Pourtant je ne me donne aucun mal :
“Hé là, la même chose !”
je lui tourne le dos,
et trinque avec l’une ou l’autre —
ça l’embête bien.

Et bientôt elle me revient tout miel :
“T’en as encore beaucoup ?
—comme madame peut voir : trois canettes pleines,
et rien que de la bière de choix !”
ça ne devrait pas être trop dur à siffler.

Alors, elle me tire un beau sourire :
“T’es quand même un sacré gaillard !”
Elle appelle le taulier, demande du vin,
boit à ma santé, remplit ma chope,
une vrai fleur, une perle.

Elle paie vin et bière, 
et moi, rabiboché,
je la prends par le bras,
et la fais sortir comme un chevalier servant
que tous saluent chapeau bas.
