Холодом, голодом греюсь, кормлюся я,
Бурей да вьюгою в ночь прикрываюся,
Бранью, побоями, страхом, угрозой
Добрые люди за столик голодный мой потчуют!

В чащу-ль дремучую от людей спрячусь я,
Голод докучливый из лесу вытолкнет.
Нет моей силушки,
Пить, есть захочется.

Барин мой миленький,
Барин мой добренький!
С голоду смерть страшна,
С холоду стынет кровь.

Барин мой добренький,
Сжалься над бедненьким,
Сжалься над горьким сироточкой!

Ce misérable, ce petit orphelin sans abri !
Mon bon Monsieur !

Le froid me réchauffe, la faim me nourrit,
La tempête, la tempête de neige, me donnent un abri pour la nuit,
Les injures, les coups, la peur et les menaces,
C'est ainsi que les bonnes gens me servent à table.

Si je me cache des gens dans un fourré dense,
La faim me tourmente et me pousse hors du bois.
Aucune force ne me reste,
Et la soif et la faim me tourmentent.

Mon cher Monsieur, mon gentil Monsieur,
Avec la famine la mort est terrible,
Le sang gèle dans le froid.
