s' entr' ouvre en ce moment,
et la brise tout bas sous les tilleuls soupire
dans un frissonnement.

Errant entre ses bords, sur le gravier encore
l' eau brillante bruit,
mais le rayon du jour, hélas! Qui s' évapore
va céder à la nuit.

und im Stillen seufzt die Brise auf unter den Linden
in leichtem Schaudern.
Unstet zwischen seinen Ufern murmelt immer noch
das glitzernde Wasser,
indes der lichte Schein des Tages sich verflüchtigt - ach! - ,
der Nacht zu weichen.
